Constructed in 1912, the historic Maydestone Building is about to undergo a major renovation. Working in conjunction with the City of Sacramento Historic Preservation Department and the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, D&S Development and Kuchman Architects are bringing this beautiful Mission-Revival building back to life. One of the sustainability goals of the project team is to achieve a LEED Certification. Four levels of apartments are to be renovated and the basement located half-a-level below grade is to be converted into a community center for the residents. The restored structure, which is sited across J Street from the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, will further support the revitalization of the active 15th –16th street corridor. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2010.
